For the steak marinade:
1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
ΒΌ cup soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 tbsp sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ginger, grated
ΒΌ tsp black pepper
For the bowls:
2 cups cooked white or brown rice
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup thinly sliced cucumber
1 cup shredded cabbage or lettuce
2 green onions, sliced
1 tsp sesame seeds
Optional: sriracha or gochujang for extra heat
Instructions
Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Add sliced steak and toss to coat. Marinate at least 20 minutes (up to 2 hours for extra flavor).
Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook steak slices 2β3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking.
Assemble the Bowls: Divide cooked rice among 4 bowls. Top with cooked steak, shredded carrots, cucumber, cabbage, and green onions. Sprinkle sesame seeds and drizzle with sriracha or gochujang if desired.
