These Korean BBQ Steak Bowls are packed with flavor and easy to make. Tender marinated steak is served over rice with fresh vegetables, sesame seeds, and optional sriracha or gochujang for a restaurant-style meal at home.

Ingredients

  • For the steak marinade:
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • ΒΌ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • ΒΌ tsp black pepper
  • For the bowls:
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup thinly sliced cucumber
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or lettuce
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Optional: sriracha or gochujang for extra heat

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Add sliced steak and toss to coat. Marinate at least 20 minutes (up to 2 hours for extra flavor).
  2. Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook steak slices 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking.
  3. Assemble the Bowls: Divide cooked rice among 4 bowls. Top with cooked steak, shredded carrots, cucumber, cabbage, and green onions. Sprinkle sesame seeds and drizzle with sriracha or gochujang if desired.
  4. Serve & Enjoy: Serve immediately for a fresh, restaurant-style Korean BBQ experience at home.

Notes

  • Marinate steak longer for more intense flavor.
  • Add pickled vegetables for extra tang.
  • Gochujang can be substituted with sriracha for milder heat.
